Celtic defender Mikael Lustig has given his backing to Jurgen Klopp after the Liverpool boss said the UEFA Nations League was having an impact on his players.
Speaking to Aftonbladet, the Celtic star was asked about the introduction of the UEFA Nations League: “Most coaches in Europe have the same feeling, but as I said last time… there is still a lot going on in the Nations League, especially for us in Sweden, it’s important matches. But I definitely agree with Jurgen Klopp.”
Following Liverpool’s draw with Manchester City last weekend Klopp said the new format was senseless and that it was having an impact on the fitness of Jordan Henderson, who only had a couple of weeks break after the World Cup.
The German said because the competition is competitive then his players aren’t getting a rest and although Celtic’s Lustig backs Klopp on the fitness of players it still seems he embraces it.
