Brendan Rodgers believes Celtic’s 2-1 win over RB Leipzig is his best European win as manager at Parkhead.
The Scottish champions produced a superb performance to overcome their much-fancied Europa League opponents, thanks to goals from Kieran Tierney and Odsonne Edouard.
Speaking after the game, Rodgers could not hide his delight, admitting no European win has been more satisfying during his tenure:
I couldn’t argue against that if you look at the level of opponent.
This was a pressure game we had to win but you saw the positivity. We showed no fear, played with aggression and brought our identity to the game.
That’s what we have been seeing this team returning to over the last six or seven weeks and it’s nice they can do it, not just domestically, but against one of the best teams in Europe.
It’s a fantastic victory for us and one I’m very proud of. Everyone knows the level Leipzig are playing at week in week out. We saw over there what a good side they are but everyone involved in Celtic deserves a huge amount of credit.
