Celtic star paid back Rodgers by ruining opponents’ strong season so far

RB Leipzig travelled to Celtic Park last night having not conceded a goal in any competition since October 4, which made the task facing Brendan Rodgers’ side all the more difficult.

But with the Bhoys looking to salvage their Europa League campaign, Odsonne Edouard spearheaded a display of attacking impetus which blew the impressive defensive record of the German outfit – who sit fourth in the Bundesliga – apart.

If Kieran Tierney was the unlikely source of the opening goal, which really got Parkhead rocking, then Edouard’s second half winning goal was an overdue reward for a performance on a night where the frontman justified his club-record transfer fee as well as Rodgers’ faith in him.


It is one thing to be potent against the likes of Dundee, whom Celtic recently swatted aside 5-0, but Edouard was brought in to make the difference against sides of a higher calibre; and he did exactly that last night.
