as reported by the birmingham mail,
Who have been Aston Villa’s stars of the season so far?
And who could do better?
After every league and cup match our reporters rate the players out of 10 to give our opinion on the hits and misses in Steve Bruce’s team.
This season we will keep a rolling tally of the marks so that we keep tabs on the best (and worst) Villa players during the 2018-19 campaign.
For the purposes of this piece we have only selected players who have made five or more first team appearances so far this season.
And although he’s not exactly been a prominent figure since his summer arrival, winger Anwar El Ghazi is top of our list after the first third of the campaign.
At the time of writing, 18 games in (16 in the Championship and two in the Carabao Cup) El Ghazi is leading the way with an average score of 7.
Alan Hutton, John McGinn, Axel Tuanzebe and Tammy Abraham also score highly – all four have been involved heavily this campaign.
According to our marks, Albert Adomah (5.46), Mile Jedinak (5.72) and Neil Taylor (5.75) have room for improvement.
