He made his Wolverhampton Wanderers debut at 16, won the World Cup at 17 and is lighting up the Premier League at 18 – but Morgan Gibbs-White’s arrival on the biggest stage was never a guarantee.

Along with Phil Foden and Ryan Sessegnon, Wolves’ hottest prospect is one of just three 18-year-olds featuring regularly in the Premier League.

Gibbs-White’s career took off after winning the World Cup, something his manager Nuno Espirito Santo proudly pointed out shortly after he returned from helping England’s under-17s to glory out in India.

“He’s skilled and there’s no doubt we are speaking about a player who can be a very good footballer,” Nuno boasted.

“It’s about him paying attention to all the things he can learn – not only from the technical staff, but also his team-mates.

“He’s a world champion, don’t forget that.”

Part of Gibbs-White’s grounding came at Thomas Telford School, where he honed his football skills and studied tirelessly to ensure a Plan B was in place if his dream job was unattainable.
