Ligue 1 outfit move into first place in race for Chelsea star

By Sam Brown Andreas Christensen’s days at Chelsea could be numbered. An astonishing thing to say, considering the 22-year-old enjoyed a hugely positive 2017-18 season under Antonio Conte. However, Christensen has found life more difficult working with Maurizio Sarri. Having made just three Chelsea appearances so far this season, the central defender has seen the bulk of his playing time come with the Danish national team. Being kept out of the starting XI at Stamford Bridge by David Luiz and Antonio Rüdiger, Christensen has revealed to the media that he is looking to play regular football at this point in his career. Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach have professed an interest in Christensen, but a Foot Mercato report suggests a new horse has emerged as the leader in the race for the centre-half. AS Monaco have had a tricky start to the season, and the recent sacking of boss Leonardo Jardim was followed with the appointment of club legend Thierry Henry. With a loan deal most likely, the switch could also feature an option for the club to buy Christensen should they wish to. Despite Mönchengladbach having a history with Christensen (after a spell on loan), the report claims Die Fohlen cannot afford to sign their former loanee. The post <a target="_blank" …read more

Striker confirms he’ll consider offers amid talk of a January move to Stamford Bridge

By Ryan Darby Inter striker Mauro Icardi has confirmed that he will consider any offers that come in for him, amid interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea. Speaking about his future to Radio Onda Cero, as cited on Calciomercato, Icardi admitted that he is happy at the San Siro, but refused to rule out a future move away. There are many voices, when offers will come we’ll evaluate them, but I’m very happy here at Inter. The Argentinian striker has been perennially linked with moves away from the Italian giants in recent years, but the club captain has always remained a key fixture at the San Siro. Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of Icardi and could move for him as a potential replacement for Karim Benzema, who has seen his future in Spain questioned this season. Icardi is said to be one of two strikers shortlisted by Maurizio Sarri in preparation for the January transfer window. The Italian head coach wants to add to his forward line and has been linked with moves for Icardi and Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek. Chelsea identify cheaper alternative to key January target

By Ryan Darby Chelsea have reportedly earmarked Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek as a cheaper alternative to Inter’s Mauro Icardi. According to a report from the Daily Mail, both strikers have been linked with moves to London, but there are already concerns from those at Chelsea that the Blues will be priced out a move for the Argentinian striker. Icardi has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge with Maurizio Sarri keen to add to his attack, but with Real Madrid also keen, potential suitors are likely to be forced into spending big for his signature. Piatek is considered to be the cheaper option of the two after his breakthrough season in Serie A. The Genoa star has found the back of the net 13 times in all competitions already this season, attracting interest from some of the biggest teams in Europe. Although Piatek may be considered as the cheaper option, Genoa are still expected to demand somewhere in the region of £40-£50 million after his goalscoring efforts this season. Lopetegui is coming under an increasing amount of pressure in Spain after a poor start to the season. The reports make for pleasant reading at Stamford Bridge in the knowledge that Conte and Hazard endured a tricky relationship during their time at Chelsea.
