Ha! Ha! Ha! Big bollocks Sheffield United came a cropper in East Yorkshire, as the Hull City did themselves a massive favour with victory in front of the Sky cameras this Friday evening and derailed the visitors chances of charging for the play-offs in the process. And all this, in the backdrop of stormy off-the field protests that clearly helped the home side to a deserved victory. City started brightly as Dicko looked sharp in attack and went close with two early chances. The visitors rallied but struggled to test McGregor seriously. The home fans interrupted the game on 19:04 with a stress ball protest, allowing manager Nigel Adkins to burst the Blades' bubble. The Tigers pressed for an opener, even with a coordinated whistle protest on 30 minutes, but couldn't force the opening goal before the break. Upon the restart, it was the visitors looking to assert themselves enjoying plenty of possession, but doing nothing to trouble the hosts. Indeed, it was City looking much more dangerous in the final third of the pitch and on 55 got their just desserts. The Blades failed to clear a corner and with ball pinging around the visitors box, Dicko was ice cool [...]

Second-placed Rangers have a difficult assignment this week as they host Hearts at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday. The Gers moved above Aberdeen with a 5-3 win at Hamilton last weekend. They are on level point with the Dons but have a better goal difference. Now, the onus is on Rangers to continue their run and pose a late challenge to Celtic in the title race. The Hoops have slipped up in the league in the recent weeks, and now only nine point separates them from Rangers and Aberdeen. The Gers can take advantage and temporarily reduce the gap to six points on Saturday, as Celtic play at Aberdeen on Sunday. However, it won't be a walk in a park for the hosts as Hearts have lost only once in their last 16 games in all competitions. That defeat was a 3-1 result at Celtic Park in January. Hearts c... [...]

• Manager wants time to build team to play at Bramley-Moore• ‘Coming out of retirement was to do bigger things in the future'Sam Allardyce has claimed he did not come out of retirement for another short-term rescue mission with Everton but to build a team worthy of the club's proposed new stadium in four years' time. He signed an 18-month contract to succeed Ronald Koeman in November but admits he has not discussed any long-term plans with the club's owner, Farhad Moshiri, who marks his two-year anniversary as major shareholder at Goodison Park next week.Allardyce attributes the lack of long-term planning to the precarious league position Everton were in when he arrived, one that has since improved, rather than uncertainty over how long he will be at Goodison Park. And he feels he should be given time to construct the Everton team that plays at Bramley-Moore and not merely another survival act in what could be the 63-year-old's final job in management. In a relegation six-pointer, Hamilton Academical will host Partick Thistle at New Douglas Park on Saturday. The Accies are currently on a five-game losing streak in all competitions, and come into this game following a 5-3 home defeat to Rangers. In their last four games, Hamilton have conceded a total of 13 goals, and it doesn't bode well for them ahead of all-important clash against Partick. The Accies sit in the 11th spot with 23 points, but they have a couple of games in hand over Partick, who are tenth in the table with 24 points. Hamilton will be aware that a win over Partick will push them above their opponents in the league table, and also out of the relegation zone. Sam Allardyce says his players have no excuses not to perform for the remainder of the season following their recent warm weather training trup to Dubai. The Everton boss took his squad to the United Arab Emirates city during their two week break, where they had time to spare following their early exit from the FA Cup last month. Talking about the experience in Dubai, Allardyce praised the training facilities and admitted his players have no excuses not to perform correctly for the rest of the season, saying; I think everybody benefitted. We can hopefully reap the benefits between now and the end of the season. Players have no excuse anymore for not getting out there and performing. Performances have been pretty good since I arrived here. Who knows where we can finish now, rather than fighting against relegation. With the Toffees facing off against Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday, Allardyce also played down suggestions of animosity between the two clubs due to the Marco Silva situation. Everton had tried to appoint now former Watford manager Silva before Allardyce got the job, however Watford rejected their advances. After sacking Silva just a few months later, Watford pointed the finger at Everton, citing their approach as a [...]

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has lifted the lid on his recent feud with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, Goal reports. The Blues boss has been involved in a war of words with his Portuguese counterpart since last season, with the Italian most recently referring to Mourinho as a “little man”. Red Devils boss Mourinho vowed that he would not forget the “serious” words Conte had said about him following a drawn-out battle of sly comments. However, speaking ahead of his side's trip to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, Conte addressed the media. He was inevitably quizzed on his relationship with Mourinho and insisted that the past is behind them. In the past we have both said things. For me it is okay. I am not interested to speak about this topic. Conte proceeded to hail United and their qualities, acknowledging that the game against the Red Devils would be a difficult one for his side. United is always dangerous because the squad is very strong. This team is also very physical. When you play against United you have to know anything can happen and there is risk to lose the game. It is a massive game for us. Chelsea have struggled to develop consistency throughout the course [...]

Henry Onyekuru is back with Everton while confusion persists with both his parent club and Anderlecht disagreeing over the extent of the player's injury. The 20-year old Nigeria international joined Everton in the summer from Eupen and was immediately loaned to Belgian Jupiler Pro League reigning champions Anderlecht. Having been forced to return to Merseyside in December after sustaining a knee injury, Everton sent the young forward back to Belgium in late January, having gone through rehabilitation and made a full recovery. However, this has caused complications with the Belgian club, who don't believe Onyekuru's knee will hold out if he returns in the near future without having had surgery, as reported by DH. Everton meanwhile don't believe that surgery is necessary, and argue against Anderlecht's claim that Onyekuru's season is done. Ahead of the Purple and Whites' game against Royal Excel Mouscron this weekend, the club released a statement on their official website, attempting to update fans on the situation. They wrote; Henry Onyekuru, who injured his knee before the New Year, is working on his return at Everton. More news on the Nigerian's situation will be communicated to us at some point in the coming week. Prior to his injury, Onyekuru was enjoying a successful [...]

Everton are considering raiding Manchester United again in the summer, this time for centre-back Chris Smalling. Smalling has seemingly fallen out of favour at United in the last few years and is no longer an instant starter, and speculation has linked him with a departure from Old Trafford for a while. Despite being named in UEFA's Champions League Team of the Week after his performance against Sevilla, Smalling has come under fire this season for inconsistent performance levels. Manager Jose Mourinho is expected to strengthen at the back in the close season, and Smalling is one of the key names expected to be cut loose. According to the Liverpool Echo, bookmakers currently have Everton as favourites to sign the former Fulham defender and England international, who is expected to cost around £25million. With Michael Keane having failed to consistently impress this season, and with both Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka on the wrong side of 30, Everton are expected to target defensive reinforcements once the window reopens. Stefan de Vrij is another name who has been linked, with the Dutchman due to leave Lazio for nothing in the summer, but the Toffees will face stiff competition for the highly rated central defender. Liverpool are keeping an eye on the progress of Napoli star Piotr Zielinski. Notwithstanding not being a starting IX regular player under Maurizio Sarri, the young Poland international has managed to display some of the impressive performances and has achieved to make 23 appearances, while netting 4 goals. While Napoli are the leading team in the Serie A standings, 23-year-old has only managed to play in the starting lineup for five times. He will surely be craving to improve upon this statistics and could consequently be open to leaving Naples. Zielinski was reportedly one of the players who Jurgen Klopp intended to sign when he succeeded Brendan Rodgers as the Reds manager. Nevertheless, in the end, a deal did not go through as the Anfield club did not want to pay the £13million which Udinese demanded. Nonetheless, it is doubtful that Napoli will let the player leave comfortably, notably as manager Sarri lately referred to him as “the next Kevin de Bruyne”. The Polish talent is a central midfielder but is capable of playing on the left-wing. Zielinski could be a replacement for Emre Can perhaps? Jurgen Klopp's side has Naby Keita coming in so the Napoli midfielder will have to provide quality performance [...]

Crystal Palace have been boosted by the news that winger Wilfried Zaha is currently ahead of schedule in his recovery from a knee injury whilst Mamadou Sakho has suffered a setback in his injury, as reported by the London Evening Standard. Both players have been really important for the club this season and the pair both picked up injuries at a bad time as they look to avoid dropping down to the Championship. Zaha was thought to be out of action for at least a month but it's been revealed that the player is ahead of where they thought he would be at this stage. Palace have currently got 12 players sidelined with various injuries but Hodgson is pleased with how the 25-year-old's recovery is going at the moment. He is doing very well and is way ahead of schedule. His attitude and desire to get back on the field is quite outstanding, I don't think I have come across anyone any better in my career than him in that respect. He's much further forward than we thought he would be but that still means we are looking at several weeks ahead before we can really count on him I think. The Palace boss then spoke [...]

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has hailed the maturity of Andreas Christensen and has dubbed the player as a future captain for the club. The Blues boss, as quoted by Goal, addressed the media today ahead of his side's game against Manchester United at the weekend and he highlighted Christensen's importance to the side. Christensen made a costly error against Barcelona in the recent Champions League clash, but Conte has urged the player's critics to acknowledge his success in the side up to now. During your career you can make a lot of mistakes. If I had to speak about my mistakes from my career we would be here all day. Christensen is having a fantastic season and showing great maturity. For me, apart from his mistake, his performance [against Barcelona] was wonderful. I trust Christensen. After having spent two seasons on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga, the young defender has established himself as a key player for the Blues. He has enjoyed an involved role in the side this season and is living up to his potential. I think this player is a present player for Chelsea and can be here for 10, 12 years. I think he can be captain. Conte has a wealth [...]

Liverpool are prepared to rival the Gunners in the race to sign under-fire Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema during the summer transfer window. The Los Blancos are ready to offload the 30-year-old forward, who has endured a torrid campaign at Santiago Bernabeu scoring only three goals in La Liga.. France international has struggled in front of goal, and with Real planning, a massive squad overhaul for the next season Benzema could be sold. Zinedine Zidane has fought his compatriot's corner, however, the Royals president Florentino Perez is reported to be selling him whether Frenchman remains in charge of the Los Blancos. Arsenal have long been linked with a move for Benzema as Arsene Wenger is a fan. Real Madrid have blocked Dani Ceballos transfer to Liverpool in January according to the reports from Spain. Spaniard has joined Real Madrid last summer in a £14.5 million deal from Real Betis but has failed to secure regular first-team football under Zinedine Zidane. Reports have claimed that tensions between Ceballos and the Los Blancos head-coach were raised even further on Wednesday evening after the Spaniard was brought on for just 29 seconds in the 3-1 victory over Leganes.
