Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says that Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world and that he would be his ideal signing. Conte admits that, if he could sign any striker for Chelsea, he would sign Kane – claiming that Kane is one of the most complete forwards in the business. Kane has hit over 20 Premier League goals in each of the last three seasons since breaking into the Tottenham first-team. Speaking to the Telegraph, Conte said this: For me, Kane, now, is one of the best strikers in the world. If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane. He is a complete striker. He is strong physically, with the ball, without the ball, he fights and he's strong in the air and acrobatic on the right and the left. He's a complete player. He's one of the top strikers in the world. He spent time on loan to Millwall, Leicester and Norwich earlier in his career but finally made his breakthrough in 2014. Since then, Kane has netted 75 Premier League goals in just three years; 20, 25 and 29. The England international scored 35 goals in 38 games in all competitions for Spurs last season and is one [...]

Burnley have reportedly agreed on a deal for Stoke City's Phil Bardsley for an undisclosed fee, which sees the Scotsman moving to Turf Moor on a two-year deal in what could be the 32-year-old's last major move. After rubbing their backs against relegation last season, the Clarets have been quite active this summer in strengthening their back line and Bardsley adds to it. Speaking to the media after the move, Bardsley said, “There's still fire in the belly to achieve things in football and what a great chance. Coming back here and playing again at Turf Moor is going to be a great challenge and one I'm looking forward to.” Though the fee isn't made public Sportsmail has revealed that the Potters would receive an initial amount of £750,000 that could rise to £1.5 million if the agreed upon performance-related add-ons gets triggered. Under Sean Dyche, Burnley went on a phenomenal home run last season collecting 33 points from 19 games. Away from home, the Clarets were pathetic, managing just seven points. However, the under average squad conceded only 55 goals and was widely appraised. And the manager is looking to build his squad on similar lines this season. Dyche has brought in defensive [...]

Manchester United have been making headlines with their summer spending, having secured two of the best players in European football in the form of Victor Lindelof from the Portuguese Primera Liga champions Benfica and Romelu Lukaku from fellow Premier League rivals Everton. The Red Devils are not looking to stop their pursuit for players and are looking to bring in some more in the transfer market. However, the former Premier League Champions are also willing to let go of some of their players, who are a part of the existing side. One such player is the English centre back Chris Smalling, who might be reduced to more of a bits and pieces role, now that the Red Devils are in possession of the Swedish defender Lindelof, whom they have brought in from Benfica as the first signing of the summer transfer window. With his future in uncertainty, the 27-year old English international, who has been the man of the season for the Red Devils in the term prior to the last one, is looking to make a move out of Old Trafford, with the aim to join a club who will give him the opportunity to start on a regular basis in [...]

Crystal Palace's current defensive situation needs immediate attention and a number of defenders have been linked with the Eagles so far. Chris Smalling's unsettled situation at Manchester United has alarmed the Premier League clubs and a host of them have started to contemplate a move for the player. West Bromwich Albion have already expressed their interest and if reports are to be believed, Crystal Palace have joined them in the race. Frank de Boer is currently running short of defenders and wants an imminent solution at Selhurst Park. Despite uncertainty hovering over Chris Smalling's future, Jose Mourinho has taken him on the pre-season tour and it could be his last chance to prove his worth. United are pretty well stocked in the defensive section so if Smalling does leave, it won't be much of a problem for the Portuguese gaffer. Smalling was one of the most improved defenders under the guidance of former manager Louis Van Gaal and the Dutchman even touted him to be the next captain of the Red Devils. But things seem to have changed a lot as he failed to capitalise on the chances afforded to him last season. Despite starting the season very well, subsequent injuries proved to be [...]

Crystal Palace remain keen on to sign Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho on Permanent basis after last season loan spell, according to reports. The French centre-back has spent the second half of the 2016/17 campaign at Selhurst Park and was instrumental in the Eagles defence before getting injured. New Palace boss Frank de Boer is keen on for defensive reinforcements and thinking over re-signing Sakho, although The Mirror claims that they are refusing to meet Liverpool price tag. The Reds are only interested in selling Sakho on permanent basis and for that, they are demanding £30m. Palace are unwilling to spend that amount on Sakho, but the player himself is keen on to remain in Premier League despite interest from La Liga giants Sevilla. The Eagles have already signed centre-back Jairo Riedewald and have already started negotiations with Arsenal over Calum Chambers transfer to Selhurst Park. Sakho, meanwhile, remains surplus to requirements at Anfield after Jurgen Klopp has been disappointed with his professionalism. The 27-year-old centre-back is one of the best in his position in Premier League at the moment, however, Liverpool unlikely to receive a £30m offer from Crystal Palace for French star unless they lower their price. Hull City are edging towards the signing of defender Ondrej Mazuch from Sparta Prague. The defender has been with the Hull squad as Leonid Slutsky's side are currently in Portugal preparing for the upcoming season. The Tigers badly need some reinforcements in the squad having parted ways with a clutch of players since the transfer window opened. The 28-year-old defender impressed Slutsky in training and also took part in their 1-0 win over Benfica. He looked pretty confident as he partnered Michael Dawson in the backline. Mazuch has been granted permission to train with the Tigers by his current club Sparta Prague and has impressed the Russian gaffer who is now considering to sign the lanky defender permanently. Hull lost Harry Maguire to Leicester City while Andrea Ranocchia returned to Inter Milan after his successful loan spell leaving Slutsky with little to no options at the back. The recently appointed boss only has Dawson as a recognised centre back and needs to beef up his rearguard quite vastly. Mazuch arrived at Fiorentina as a teenager from Brno but his stint at the Serie A club turned out to be a painful one as he appeared just two times for them. He then had short [...]

According to a shocking report, Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is now a target for Stoke City with the Potters even getting in touch with the player's representative over a potential move. The English international has been one of the most impactful players for Arsenal over the past few seasons but has entered into the final year of his contract with no initiative taken by the club. The 23-year-old remains one of Arsenal's most exciting talents in the making, who has often come off the bench to change outcomes against top sides. The latest such example was Arsenal's late equaliser against Manchester United at Old Trafford last season. Arsene Wenger has mostly used him to inject the extra bit of pace in the ending stages of the game from the flanks. In the absence of Hector Bellerin, Chamberlain is also seen as playing as a right wing back and when Francis Coquelin was injured, the player also played a midfielder against Bayern Munich in the Champions league. That's not all, he was also seen playing on the left in the win against Chelsea in Arsenal's FA Cup final win. He has been Wenger's most used player and the French manager has reiterated time and again [...]

Liverpool head-coach Jurgen Klopp has claimed that their Premier League rivals Everton have done some “really good business” this summer after signing several quality players. Everton have sold their key player Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in a 75m deal, and invested that money and more in the transfer market as they have been the busiest clubs during this transfer window so far, Bringing the likes of Davy Klaassen Wayne Rooney, Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford amongst others as they look to fight for top four next season. Liverpool, in comparison, have broke club's transfer record with signing Mohamed Salah from Romal, Hull City's Andrew Robertson and Chelsea started Dominic Solanke. And Jurgen Klopp has praised Everton and their new signings. “Yes, I heard, of course, a few things that they have done. Strikers, good. Wayne Rooney, you don't have to talk about. The centre-half came. Good. So a lot of really good business. Klaassen. So it's all good,” he told reporters. “But, at the end of the day, just like us, they can only line up 11 players. There is continued speculation that Antonio Conte wants to sign a backup striker to Alvaro Morata as he prepares to challenge on four counts this season. Having made four new signings already this summer, we are reading speculation and report that Antonio Conte has demanded FOUR more players to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season. These reports also state Chelsea have agreed to back their man with significant funds which formed part of the negotiations to the new contract signed by Conte a couple of weeks ago.One of the players who is being linked with Chelsea for a second time having been linked back in January, is Swansea's striker Fernando Llorente who has worked with Antonio Conte previously at Juventus and is someone who Conte still holds in high regard. There is little doubt that he is a quality striker as he proved last season scoring goals in the Premier League and virtually everywhere he has played. Reports state that Conte would only be willing to offer Swansea £20m for him whereas Paul Clement and Swansea are looking for £30m.Now I have to question the move for different reasons. First and foremost I cannot see that he will prove [...]

Life at the moment for Michy Batshuayi could not be better. He finished the season with a flourish of goals including the goal that won the title and has scored five goals in three pre-season games. Having read months and months of speculation that Michy Batshuayi was about to either be loaned out or sold this season, I am pleased with the response from the Belgian striker. It had to have been tough coming to Chelsea last year spending the majority of the season on the bench watching virtually the same players win the title in Antonio Conte's first season at the club. The tactical switch that has been written in history as the deciding factor of last season didn't help him personally as he struggled to find his feet and to understand his role. However, having worked hard, having taken on board advice from the manager and the players, Michy Batshuayi finished the season in impressive style and has continued his good form into the first few weeks of pre-season.It's early doors, I understand that, but there is already signs that he is adapting his game to the demands of a Chelsea striker. After making a spectacular show of themselves in the transfer market last summer, when they started out with hopes of luring Alexandre Lacazette to east London and ended up convincing themselves that Simone Zaza was the answer, this time they have been assertive. In the past fortnight alone they have signed England's No1 on loan, one of their rivals' finest talents and a striker who scored 59 goals in 156 games for Manchester United. Cesar Azpilicueta has spoken of the importance of pre-season and a better title defence to that of two seasons three seasons ago. Chelsea can simply not afford a repeat of what happened under Jose Mourinho. What a difference a couple of weeks makes at Chelsea! Constant speculation of the Managers future, of potential signings and of the immediate futures of some of our most promising youngsters. Step forward to a couple of weeks later and everything has moved on so quickly. The manager has signed a new contract, we have made four signings (three of them impressive with reports of more to follow) and of those youngsters we have seen the club cash in on their talent with it becoming clear that the involvement they are looking for isn't going to come to fruition this season. This is the summer of big spending with Pep Guardiola breaking the world transfer record so far having spent £230m so far. It's likely to continue with all of the clubs in the Premier League looking to strengthen their squads for the coming season and our rivals for the top four looking to close the considerable gap we had on them looking at the final [...]

It's that time of year again! Competitive football returns to Goodison Park again this Thursday, with Everton facing off against Slovakian side Ružomberok in the Blues' first Europa League qualifier. Ahead of the game, Ronald Koeman met with the media to discuss the opposition, as well as indicating his intention to bring in three new signings, one of which being cover at centre-back for the injured Ramiro Funes Mori. With Funes Mori out for the season most likely, and youngsters Tyias Browning, Brendan Galloway and Matthew Pennington all loaned out for the upcoming campaign, the Blues need another addition. With just a couple of weeks to go until the start of the Premier League season, who could Everton realistically (or not) get to fill that hole in the squad? Here are my suggestions… The post Which centre-backs should Everton be targeting? appeared first on Read Everton. [...]

Michy Batshuayi is close to earning a place in the Chelsea squad for the upcoming campaign after impressing manager Antonio Conte in pre-season, according to a report from Simon Johnson of Standard Sport. The Belgian international looked all but certain to be loaned out after a rather disappointing first year at Chelsea but he's flourished in the absence of Diego Costa in recent weeks and there is now a good chance he stays at Stamford Bridge as back-up to Alvaro Morata. The 23-year-old has scored five goals in three pre-season friendlies and, according to Johnson, he's impressed Conte in training sessions too. Fernando Llorente is constantly being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge but even if he does arrive, there is a very good chance that Conte would also keep Batshuayi as he looks to have a squad which can cope with the demands of competing for honours domestically and in Europe simultaneously.
