Cardiff City's players will share the potential prize of £10m if they gain automatic promotion to the Premier League, according to a report from the Daily Mail. This comes due to one of the Championship's most generous bonus schemes, and it means that The Bluebirds will be receiving more than Leicester City did for winning the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season. If Cardiff reach the Premier League via the playoffs, they will collect a reduced amount of £8m instead. Before every... [...]

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has responded to comments made by Bristol City counterpart Lee Johnson prior to Sunday's Severnside Derby, when speaking to Wales Online. Warnock compared Johnson to his father, Gary, with whom Warnock had some comings together with in the past. Johnson stated that the atmosphere at the Cardiff City Stadium was ‘not too intimidating', and pointed towards the 'empty seats' at their home games despite enjoying an excellent season and battling for promotion. However, Warnock was quick to respond to that, stating that he wouldn't have been so generous with an allocation of away tickets if he was in charge of the Cardiff ticket office! “If I had my way, they (Bristol City allocation) would probably get 400. But it does make for a good derby when you get the opposition in their numbers. “When we went to Bristol, I thought our fans were fabulous, even when we had 10 men. They rallied us on and we ended up being the better team in the end of the second half.” Warnock was also made aware of Johnson's comments towards the Cardiff supporters, and said he is not too concerned with what he had to say, similarly to his Dad, Gary [...]

Speaking prior to Sunday's Severnside Derby, Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson does not fear an hostile environment from the Cardiff City supporters insisting ‘the atmosphere will not be too intimidating because it's a big stadium which, surprisingly, has had a few empty seats.' Whilst Johnson was quick to play up the excellent job that Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock has done at propelling the Cardiff City Stadium club into a promotion battle this season, he does not believe his players are likely to be on the end of a wall of noise from the opposition crowd come Sunday lunchtime. Johnson therefore has certainly fueled the fire with his comments, as his out-of-form team travel across the Severn Bridge in the hope of getting their season back on track, despite retaining a play-off position going into this weekend's Championship fixtures. He is however expecting a tough encounter against a solid team, “It's been a fantastic season for them, there's no doubting that. Neil (Warnock) has gone there after they were relegation fodder at one point. He's turned them into genuine promotion candidates. “I think they will be very functional, organised and they have a lot of physical players in their team. They make you defend [...]

Questions on Bristol City from every decade since the sixties, with the answers to be posted on here tomorrow. 60's. This player featured quite heavily in a conversation I had before our last home match about City players from the past that you struggled to remember anything about. This prompted me to do some research into him – I wonder if you can identify him from this pen picture? “An apprentice car mechanic who initially joined us on a part time contract, this Aberfan born wide man scored seven times for us with one of his goals coming against Bristol City. After five years at City, he moved on to a place where the north is supposed to start and created a big impression on his debut as he played some part in all but one of the goals in a 7-1 win. After fifty odd appearances for his second club, he was transferred again and played a similar number of times for some seaside blues, before finishing his career at the county town of Essex.” 70s. Despite this game from forty years ago being unique in the annals of Cardiff City v Bristol City matches, it attracted the smallest crowd for a [...]
