Leeds United host Norwich City this weekend at Elland Road in one of the more eye-catching games of the Championship fixture list over the coming days. Both sides earned themselves 3-1 wins last time out and will be confident of a result so both managers need to try and nail their team selection. With that in mind, then, we've taken a look at whether Pawel Cibicki should take a starting role after an impressive cameo v QPR last time out… Alfie Burns A lot depends on the fitness of Pablo Hernandez, if the Spanish playmaker is fit then no, but if he is still suffering from the knock he picked up against Aston Villa, then yes. Cibicki's contribution against QPR was outstanding, but Hernandez is so important to Leeds and if he is fit, Christiansen can't afford to leave him out. However, Cibicki will have some role to play in tomorrow's contest, whether that is from the bench or from the start. Chris Gallagher I think he has to! Leeds were very good going forward after Cibicki replaced Ekuban and scored three goals. Surely Christiansen has to go with the forward options that played so well and that means the ex-Malmo man has to play. Adam Simeoni The Swede's cameo at QPR [...]

Kemar Roofe scored three goals last weekend to secure the win against QPR and it looks like we'll need him again tomorrow. Caleb Ekuban went off injured in that game and is set to miss multiple games. You may have forgotten about Pierre-Michel Lasogga, he vanished after the Brentford game and according to Christiansen, still isn't fit to face Norwich. TC says Caleb Ekuban "will miss some games" after his injury at QPR. Lasogga is still not fit enough. #lufc — Adam Pope (@APOPEY) December 15, 2017 There's no doubt there's some mystery behind his absence, at first he was missing games due to illness and then he picked up an injury, but nobody really knows how. Tomorrow's game also comes too soon for Dallas, meaning Cibicki could start his first league game for Leeds. The post Two Leeds strikers set to miss Norwich game appeared first on LeedsAllOver. [...]

Sky Sports' EFL pundit David Prutton believes that Leeds United are looking very much like promotion candidates after a mixed start to the season. The Whites enjoyed a flying start and were top of the league in September. However a dreadful run followed which left them outside the play-offs. Whilst Leeds are still four points away from the top six now, things are picking up again and the Yorkshire Evening Post report how Prutton reckons those experiences will help the team. “I think what we have seen has been a character building process where Thomas has probably learnt a lot about the team, the fans have learnt a lot about the team and the fans have learned a lot about Thomas. It gives them a great perspective I think for the rest of the season.” Thomas Christiansen's men have a reasonably friendly fixture list over Christmas, facing two of the current bottom three and whilst acknowledging any game is tough, the former Leeds midfielder thinks they can capitalise. “Leeds' games over Christmas are all good games and they are games that if you were looking at purely on positions and results then you would say a big tick for Leeds for those.” The Verdict Leeds certainly do [...]

According to Danish media outlet, Tipsbladet, Brondby are interested in offering Pawel Cibicki a route out of Leeds United, with the Danish outfit reportedly interested in the forward. It has been suggested that a meeting has taken place between representatives of both Cibicki and Brondby, but since that initial meeting, no further talks have taken place between the two parties. Reports in the local media surrounding Leeds have confirmed that the club is prepared for offers for Cibicki during the January transfer window, after the 23-year-old's indifferent start to life in the Sky Bet Championship. Leeds moved to bring Cibicki to Elland Road during the summer transfer window from FC Malmo, with the forward agreeing a four-year deal with the West Yorkshire club. However, Thomas Christiansen has limited Cibicki's opportunities so far this season, with the forward featuring on just three occasions. Cibicki's first opportunity to impress in the Championship came last weekend, when the 23-year-old was introduced as a first-half substitute in the 3-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers. The Swedish forward made a positive impact from the bench, laying on an assist for Kemar Roofe, who grabbed a hat-trick for the Whites. Cibicki will be hopeful of retaining his place in the matchday [...]

A few days ago Leeds United had, according to Yorkshire Evening Post (YEP) reporter Phil Hay, signed a deal for rising Japanese star Yosuke Ideguchi. Hay said at the time that the YEP “understands that an agreement for Ideguchi was struck last Friday,” going on to state that the Whites have “lined up their first January transfer.” Signing Ideguguchi as just a player The rumour that Leeds United were interested in a Far East signing came via a Facebook Live chat with Leeds United Director of Football Victor Orta, with Orta mentioning at the time that the club had a big surprise for fans. Orta's replied to a question asked by a Leeds fan, and was more than clear in what he said with the Spaniard stating: “…perhaps he arrived Pawel Cibicki of Malmö in the Sweden league and we are near to sign a big surprise from Asia.” It is a ‘signing' that is in essence a ‘non-signing' in that the capture of the Blue Samurai's rising talent won't be an immediate one. The problem is that Ideguchi won't qualify for a work permit, due to him not having played the requisite 75% of Japan's international games over the previous two years. Japan are [...]

The left-back position is something of a mystery for Leeds this season. Gaetano Berardi, a natural right-back is the current first choice, and Vurnon Anita is back-up, and our natural left-back, on loan from Manchester United and our most talented can't get a game. Today we have been linked with a move for Cardiff City's promising young full-back Declan John. The player, capped twice for the Welsh national team is currently having a productive season in Scotland for Glasgow Rangers. He isn't in the plans with Neil Warnock at Cardiff City and the chances of him suiting the style of play for the Bluebirds is very slim. There are a host of clubs chasing the player and Leeds are one of the clubs according to reports, although to me this wouldn't be a productive move given the potions we have there, and the fact we have a player on loan from Manchester United who is more than capable of playing in this role if needed. However, he is young and talented, but would Cardiff sell to Leeds? The story is that Cardiff may well recall him just to cash in on the player, Warnock maybe looking at how he can raise funds [...]

Leeds United made a number of buys during the summer, some of these now starring in the first team squad. However, it is the fate of another summer buy that came to the fore today. Leeds definitely made their fans more than a little happy with the number of players brought in; some like Samu Saiz and Gianni Alioski have slotted in to first team action and others taken a more predominant role in the Under-23 Development squad. One player who was signed and made neither of those moves was Dutch-born Moroccan midfielder Ouasim Bouy. 24-year-old Bouy came to the Whites on a free transfer after being released by Italian giants Juventus. Rather than head to these shores, he was loaned out to Spanish La Liga 2 side Cultural Leonesa – a side the Whites have an ‘arrangement' with. However, according to BBC Radio Leeds' Adam Pope, that might not be going the way United had envisaged when entering in to the agreement. I understand that #lufc have not yet recalled midfielder Ouasim Bouy from his loan at Cultural Leonesa. It remains an option for United who are disappointed with his lack of game time at the Spanish club. There is the possibility of [...]

Barcelona are monitoring the situation of Villarreal man Alfonso Pedraza, according to reports. 21-year-old winger Pedraza in particular is something of a shock target for Ernesto Valverde's table-topping side, after having made 14 league appearances for Championship Leeds United on loan in the second half of last season. He is currently out on loan again, this time at Alaves where he has fifteen appearances in all competitions this season. A year ago Alfonso Pedraza was on loan at Lugo,... [...]

There will be a few interesting situations regarding loans come January 1st. Leeds have a few players out on loan doing very well, and there a few players on loan at Leeds that aren't playing as much as they and their clubs would want. It's the same situation for Leeds defender Ouasim Bouy, who hasn't started a league game yet for Cultural Leonesa. There are high hopes for the player who arrived after being released by Juventus in the summer, but finding him a club where he will play regular football hasn't proved so easy. Leeds and Cultural have formed a relationship due to Ivan Bravo, a key part of Leeds United under Andrea Radrizzani and his club in the Spanish second tier was an easy option for the incoming Bouy. However he may as well be at Leeds currently, with no first-team football coming his way, and there are a few reasons for that. Loan players aren't always popular, look at Matthew Pennington and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, both Premier League players that are bench warmers at best currently. The example of Borthwick-Jackson is strange, because he is the best left-back at the club, and it's natural for him but he's third [...]

Premier League side Everton are interested in Leeds United youngster Mallik Wilks, according to the Daily Mail. The 18 year-old striker is currently on loan at Accrington Stanley and has scored 5 goals for the League Two club so far this season. West Brom are also being linked with a move for him. Wilks signed a four-year contract with Leeds United in August, though that has not stopped Everton showing an interest in him. He has only made one senior appearance for the Whites, which can last season when they lost to National League side Sutton United in the FA Cup in January. He is highly regarded at Leeds and they will be reluctant to let him go. Everton have a history of signing youngsters from the Football League and then giving them a chance in their first team. We have seen this in recent seasons through the likes of John Stones, Mason Holgate and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Leeds will be happy with the way things are going for Wilks at the moment. The 18 year-old is gaining some first-team experience on loan at Accrington and getting a lot of game time which will help his development. He had a very impressive season with their [...]

It might be an on and off season for Manchester United but Scott McTominay is enjoying every bit of it. The 21-year-old has bloomed rapidly and has been heralded pretty well at the club. McTominay entered the foray at the start of the season and has been handed a number of chances to showcase his talent. The midfielder's performance in the middle of the park earned him many accolades and he also went on to sign a new four-year contract to extend his stay at the Old Trafford. But his lack of game time hasn't gone unnoticed and a number of clubs are looking to bring him to their side. According to reports, Leeds United are considering a move for the midfielder in January. The Yorkshire side are still very much in the race for a spot in the Championship playoffs and Christiansen would need some fresh impetus to have a better shot in the next half of the Premier League. Leeds have bettered their performance off late and Christiansen would be hoping to maintain their run. The Whites already have Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on loan from the Manchester-based outfit and it seems they are looking for some reinforcement from their archrivals. At United, the midfield [...]

TC: they say I'm a WHAT?? I despair at the world of Twitter sometimes, particularly as it relates to Leeds United. Lately, after every game, or so it seems, win lose or draw, there's some Twitter-generated “news” article based on the random tweets of various Leeds fans. These are small pearls of unwisdom, giving opinions of varying degrees of cluelessness about the performance of this or that player. Invariably, the articles will be headlined by quotes such as “He's not good enough for the shirt” or “the worst I've ever seen”, the aim being to inveigle the unwary into reading a bunch of uninformed and barely coherent opinions that make about as much sense as a post-match interview with Jose Mourinho. Often, it's clear that there's a deliberate attempt to whip up controversy, simply to generate hits. It's unedifying stuff, a storm of white noise that tends to obliterate any real news or sensible opinion. The latest such storm in a teacup concerned Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen, who – according to some of the more hard-of-thinking Leeds Twitterati anyway – committed a cardinal sin in being pictured at Old Trafford after the Manchester derby. Some mischievous Pride of Devon fan, seeking to [...]
