A FEW eyebrows may be raised in Glasgow's East End should John McGinn's name, as expected, appear on the Hibernian team-sheet against NSI Runavik. All the while, in the sleepy village of Toftir, Neil Lennon will be suitably unmoved. McGinn will find himself ineligible for Celtic's Champions League qualification campaign – should a deal be struck to take the Scotland internationalist west – if he takes the field in the Faroe Islands tonight, albeit he would be available for the group stage. BRENDAN RODGERS, the Celtic manager, faces a headache over the centre of his defence for the next round of Champions League qualifying after Jozo Simunovic was sent off against Alashkert last night and misses the next match. The centre-half was given a red card in the first half with the Scottish champions already a goal to the good on the night and four goals up on aggregate. A reckless high foot on Jefferson Reis De Jesus means that Simunovic will sit out the first leg of Celtic's second Champions League qualifying round tie against Rosenborg next week, after the Norwegians saw [...]

NEIL LENNON, the Hibernian head coach, has labelled Celtic captain Scott Brown “presumptuous” for lavishing praise on John McGinn and positing that the combative midfielder would thrive at Parkhead. Brown was candid when asked about the club's ongoing pursuit of McGinn – a close friend and erstwhile international team-mate – as he lauded the 23-year-old as a “top-quality player” possessing “pretty much everything you need”. Brown also hinted that McGinn could be his long-term successor at Celtic and joked about sending text messages urging him to make the move west. First published by celtsarehere.com NEIL LENNON has taken a pop at his former captain Scott Brown after the player gave his verdict on John McGinn's ability in his press conference on Tuesday. The Celtic captain praised the Hibs player and called him a better player than he was at John's age. This hasn't gone over well with Lennon who seems to be getting fed up with the John McGinn saga. “I think it's a bit presumptuous from Scott. “I don't know the context of the interview and the atmosphere of the interview, and I'm aware John is admired by a [...]

first published by planetfootball.com, In Depth John Hartson believes the appointment of Steven Gerrard will “change the mindset” at Rangers – but says it will be “almost impossible” for the former Liverpool midfielder to deliver the title in his first season. Rangers have finished third in their first two seasons back in the Premiership, but the arrival of Gerrard and nine new signings have raised hopes of a stronger title challenge this time around. However, Hartson expects Brendan Rodgers to remain in charge of Celtic for at least another season and does not see them relinquishing their stronghold any time soon. “I [...]

Celtic are refusing to budge on the £30million price tag that they have placed on defender Kieran Tierney, the Daily Record reports. Juventus are the latest club to join the race for Tierney, however Celtic remain insistent on having that £30million asking price met if they are to sell the left-back this summer. Celtic want £30million up front for the Scotland international. If Tierney was to leave Celtic for £30million this summer, that fee would be more than double the previous record fee for a Scottish transfer. Celtic's firm stance on the 21-year-old starlet has already seen Everton withdraw from the race to sign [...]
