As reported by vitalfootball.co.uk Celtic might still be a few days away from a return to action but at least Scotland did their best to actually help us enjoy the international break. Let's be honest, none of us like these breaks and they are a pain sometimes. Going into this one, then, more concern was about the prospects of the national team with the amount of dropouts but we needn't have worried. A fine performance put Albania away last night and many of us were surely purring at the display that winger James Forrest put in. He was simply unplayable last night and certainly looked [...]

As reported by celticquicknews.co.uk ALEX McLEISH singled out James Forrest for praise as the Celtic winger scored his first goals for Scotland in the 4-0 UEFA Nations League victory in Albania last night. The international boss acclaimed the on-fire Hoops winger who cemented the three points with two fabulous left-foot finishes in Shkoder, as CQN reported in our match report. McLeish said: “James has been there or thereabouts in the last couple of years for Scotland. And, of course, he has been scoring goals. “He's been in great form for his club and he continued that scoring vein which was marvellous to see. They [...]

As reported by vitalfootball.co.uk James Forrest was absolutely excellent last night as Scotland hammered Albania 4-0 to try and restore some pride in the national team. It's been fair to say that there has been a lot of negativity about the Tartan Army in recent days with a number of players dropping out and many on Alex McLeish's back. But, whilst I am still not convinced by the manager, it is clear to see that the players have still got plenty to offer on the international stage. Forrest, then, was the leading light as he hit a brace and many have poured on the [...]

First published by celtsarehere.com A makeshift Scottish side managed a 4-0 win over Albania away from home after their Celtic contingent sparked them into life. With so many call offs for various reasons it was down to some of Celtic's on-form players to do the business and they certainly did that. James Forrest bagged a brace to ensure victory on the night and Scotland ran riot over a ten man Albania. Goals from Ryan Fraser and Steven Fletcher got the wheels in motion and with Scotland flying, James Forrest managed to bring his club form to his international side. James Forrest's two goals [...]

As reported by sundaypost.com Register for our free newsletter LIVINGSTON boss Gary Holt has slammed Scotland boss Alex McLeish for blaming Kieran Tierney's international call-off on his club's plastic pitch. McLeish claimed the surface at the Tony Macaroni Arena aggravated the Celtic left-back's tight hamstring when he played there last Sunday. Holt believes the artificial surface is getting an unfair reputation. He said: “Let's be honest, I think they will blame Brexit on Livingston's pitch these days “In fact, I think the other boys who played would all be stiff after the game, considering the amount they have played. “It's an excuse, that's what it [...]

As reported by footballtransfertavern.com Celtic are getting back to their best and that leads many to believe that the dream of domestic domination and European progression is back on. Having made a bad start compared to their usual standards, Brendan Rodgers has masterminded a quick turnaround in form and now Celtic are back at the summit of the Scottish Premiership. The Hoops have improved in every area of the pitch to better their results, with their defence being harder to get past and the forwards putting away more goals that ever. Nevertheless, there is still more that Celtic could do to be better as [...]

As reported by tbrfootball.com, Scotland's under-19s did as expected yesterday in a comfortable 5-0 win over San Marino. It was a competent performance from Billy Stark's men. Two of the goals came from Celtic striker Jack Aitchison. There is no doubt this will be a massive confidence boost for the young attacker. The 18-year-old has had a difficult season so far. The teenager was sent to Dumbarton in the summer. The aim was to give him the regular first-team football needed so he could develop into the star Celtic are hoping for. The talented frontman played in his first four possible games [...]

As published by hitc.com, Is history about to repeat itself for Scottish giants Celtic? ‘Get Marvin Compper out of the club'. That will be one of Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers's mandates during the January transfer window. The 33-year-old has only played 83 minutes of senior football for Celtic since joining from Leipzig for £1 million almost a year ago and it's clear that he'll never amount to much at Parkhead. Rodgers has effectively exiled the German centre-back and there doesn't look to be much way back for him. Problem is, Compper is contracted to the Hoops for another 18 months, so is he going to [...]

The 23-year-old recently won his seventh cap for Wales in the 2-1 defeat to Denmark and has caught the eye of Rodgers after some impressive displays at the Liberty Stadium. The full-back, who has already spent time on loan at Yeovil, Bristol Rovers and Middlesbrough during his time with the Swans, is out of contract in the summer, with the Hoops currently scouting the highly rated youngster. Mikael Lustig's contract will expire at the end of this season and as such, clubs from outside of Scotland can begin talking to the defender in January about the possibility of signing him on a free transfer. According to fotbolldirekt, Swedish side AIK are interested in signing the 31-year-old. Lustig is apparently happy to return to Sweden and AIK are one of the clubs he'd gladly sign for, but there is a chance he could sign a new deal at Celtic Park. AIK are interested in the Swedish defender but their sporting director, Bjorn Wesstrom, has explained that his club have not made [...]

The striker position is one that Celtic may need to address in the January transfer window. We've looked at some forwards who Celtic may want to consider in the coming months. The post Strikers Celtic could sign in January to strengthen in the final third appeared first on Read Celtic.
