Rafa Benitez has worked wonders in his first ever season in the Championship as he helped the Magpies out of the second tier, taking them to promotion, just a year after they were relegated from the Premier League. The Spanish manager has made some decent additions to the squad already but he will need all the depth and quality he can acquire this summer if his side are to keep up with their performances from the next season. The Magpies have a decent squad at their disposal but Benitez is looking for a player who can improve his options for the first team next season and this has seen the club linked with some of the finest stars in England at the moment. The former Liverpool man is still desperately looking for an attacker to add to his squad and is scouting some of the most exciting youngsters in England to give them a chance to shine in the Premier League next season and the latest name on the radar of the club is Manchester City star, Patrick Roberts. A product of the AFC Wimbledon and Fulham academies in London, the 20-year joined the Etihad outfit back in 2015 but made just one [...]

Celtic laboured to a draw in their first leg tie against Rosenborg and were fortunate not to concede leaving their Champions League qualification status hanging in the balance. For all of Celtic's dominance of possession in the opening 45 minutes, they struggled to create any clear cut chances. James Forrest had two shots on goal blocked but the best chance for the Hoops in the opening half fell to Stuart Armstrong courtesy of an inch perfect through ball from Olivier Ntcham, but he too saw his shot on goal blocked. Kristoffer Ajer was handed his first start for Celtic and blocked a dangerous shot by Rosenborg's Milan Jevtovic from close range. On 60 minutes as Bendtner held the ball up well and fed de Lanlay, who blazed high over the bar from eight yards out. James Forrest came close 20 minutes from time but dragged his shot wide of the left hand post. The Norwegian side had two further chances to score but were wasteful in front of goal, sparing Celtic's blushes. Here are the player ratings from tonight's game. Brendan Rodgers has indicated that he may look to Tom Rogic as a “false nine” for tonight's Champions League third qualifying round clash with Rosenborg. The Hoops face the possibility of having no out-and-out striker for the first leg of the tie. Leigh Griffiths is serving a ban whilst Moussa Dembele is a serious doubt due to a hamstring injury. Rodgers spoke to the media today ahead of the crucial clash with the Norwegian champions, stating what the alternative possibilities could be if Dembele fails his late fitness test. As quoted by the Herald, the Irishman said: We could be going into the game without our two main strikers. We didn't have a striker at Hearts (in a league game in April) and we scored five. That's what you need, multiple goalscorers. It happens and it has happened. So we have to find a way. But we have done that a number of times last year. Tactically, we look at the team and how can you find a way to play and then quickly pull together a strategy and a plan that can get you a result. We will look at where Moussa's at? If it's a big risk – and that decision might be taken [...]

Celtic were unarguably the best side on the Scottish soil throughout the last campaign as they brutally breezed past almost all of their domestic opponents with relative ease. Under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers, the Celts chiselled out scintillating outings and were remarkably consistent, as a result of which they inked their name on the Scottish Cup, League Cup and Scottish Premiership title. It was riveting to see Rodgers making full use of the young guns at his disposal and giving them the requisite platform to thrive properly. One of the young guns who drew a large scale attention and dazzled the most out of the pool of blossoming starlets was their prolific striker in the shape of Moussa Dembele. The 21-year-old banged 32 goals in his first season with the Hoops and considering his meteoric rise, he was always going to be a subject of interest from other European heavyweights. If the latest reports are to be believed, Ligue 1 giants Marseille are very keen to lure Dembele to Stade Velodrome this summer, with the poacher open to make the move if the Phocians could table Celtic's £20million asking price. After the reports surfaced, he missed the training session with the [...]

Ahead of the first leg of Celtic's Champions League qualifier at home to Rosenborg, we at Read Celtic will role-play (not that kind) and predict the starting XI. We will be playing the role of Brendan Rodgers and will be choosing the starting XI, as well as predicting how the team will line-up on the pitch. It also includes a bit of insight into what we expect from each player, and what they can do to make the difference. A 6-0 aggregate win over Linfield ensured the Hoops would take their place in qualifying round three of the Champions League. Norwegian champions Rosenborg currently top their league table 17 games into the season, so will be no pushovers despite needing extra-tie to overcome Dundalk in the last round. To understand our prediction, you also need to see the latest team news ahead of the game. Here is our predicted eleven in a 4-2-3-1 formation for Wednesday's game.
