First published by insidefutbol.com, Follow @insidefutbol Graeme Murty is making no bones about the importance of Rangers' trip to face Old Firm rivals Celtic next weekend, dubbing the game “massive”. Rangers were recently drubbed 4-0 by Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, something which many feel all but ended Murty's chances of keeping his job into next season. The Rangers manager now has to take his side to Celtic Park next weekend, knowing the Bhoys could win the title over the course of the 90 minutes. And he is fully aware of the importance of the game and turning the [...]

SPFL Development League Lennoxtown Training Centre Monday, April 23, 2018 CELTIC...0 MOTHERWELL...2(Hastie 3, 66) TEN-MAN Celtic were defeated 2-0 by Motherwell in the Development League today at Lennoxtown, with a brace from Jake Hastie doing the damage for the visitors. Hastie gave the Steelmen an early lead with an accurate finish after cutting in from the right, and the same player sealed the spoils for the Lanarkshire outfit in the 66th minute after Ross Doohan had saved David Turnbull's shot. To compound the disappointment for Tommy McIntyre's team, Kieran Campbell was given his marching orders late in the game for a second bookable offence. There were three changes [...]

Rangers are reportedly interested in luring Crystal Palace midfielder McArthur to Ibrox. The Daily Mail claim Rangers are looking to land Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur on a free transfer ahead of the summer transfer window, but surely Celtic are in a better position to land the Scotland international. The 30-year-old powerhouse is in the final months of his contract – which the Daily Star claim is worth a huge £55,000 a week – a wage way that eclipses the pay packets of Rangers' highest earners. But the three-year deal he signed in July 2015 is coming to an end, and the former [...]

First published by footballinsider247.com COMMENT There is little doubt that Moussa Dembele was missed by Celtic in their 2-1 loss to Hibernian on Saturday. The Frenchman, who missed the game due to injury, is the subject of conflicting reports about the severity of his injury and if he will recover in time to face Rangers in a potential title party for the Hoops on Sunday. The Daily Record is reporting that he 100% will be fit for the game, while the Scottish Sun is slightly more cautious in their outlook, claiming that the 21-year-old faces a ‘race against time' to be fit for the [...]

First published by footballinsider247.com BBC pundit Tam McManus has predicted that Celtic will make a move for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn in the summer. The 23-year-old midfielder impressed for the Easter Road side in the recent 2-1 win over the Hoops, and he has had an excellent season overall, which has included his first call-up for the Scotland national team. As quoted on his personal Twitter account, McManus believes that McGinn could be on the move across the Premiership to the Glasgow giants in the summer. “I do think Celtic will go for McGinn in the Summer but he will have plenty options,” he [...]

First published by footballinsider247.com COMMENT Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham could miss this weekend's Old Firm clash with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership after a shoulder injury ruled him out of win over Hearts on Sunday – and the Gers desperately need the shot-stopper available for the trip to Celtic Park. Foderingham was replaced by Jak Alnwick in the win over Hearts but the former Newcastle man did not come close to being as convincing as Foderingham between the sticks against the Jambos before Gers boss Graeme Murty confirmed to the Scottish Sun that his senior star was a doubt for the clash with [...]

First published by footballinsider247.com Former Celtic striker John Hartson believes that Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers will spend one more season in Glasgow before moving on to a new job. The Hoops boss has been linked with the manager's job at Arsenal, with the Daily Mirror reporting that he is on the shortlist to take over from Arsene Wenger, and Hartson believes that the eventually Rodgers will want to go back to England to test himself in the Premier League. “I don't think it is a case of Celtic offering Brendan a huge amount of money to stay because he is in a strong [...]

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a move to Arsenal recently. John Hartson has told Yahoo Sports that whenever he speaks to anyone at Celtic about Brendan Rodgers' future, they all insist that the Northern Irish boss has happy at Parkhead. Rodgers has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this week, after it was announced that Arsene Wenger' will depart at the end of the season. However, the 45-year-old has come out publicly to suggest that he is very happy at Celtic. And although Hartson actually believes that a move to the Premier League would appeal to Rodgers, the former [...]

The new kit is due to be launched this evening before hitting the shops in the middle of May, but fans have been given a sneak preview online. Sports Direct jumped the gun by making the kit available online, but it has since been removed and is no longer available for the time being. The new strip is set to hit the shelves on May 18, the day of the Scottish Cup Final. The new kit is not too dissimilar to the current one with just a few minor changes. [...]

First published by footballinsider247.com COMMENT St Mirren winger Lewis Morgan is set to play his last game for the Saints against Falkirk at the weekend, and will then complete his move to Celtic in the summer. The 20-year-old has been in such good form for the Paisley side, helping them clinch promotion to the Scottish Premiership, that it seems that he will be given every chance to prove himself in the Hoops first team squad from next season. The thing that must have really impressed Brendan Rodgers about the player is that even though the move to the Hoops was agreed in January, he [...]

First published by footballinsider247.com COMMENT One of the numerous disappointing aspects of Celtic's recent 2-1 loss to Hibernian on Saturday was the performance of Kieran Tierney. The 20-year-old was booked for a first-half foul, and it seemed to affect his game from them on, as he seemed remarkably timid. The reason for his poor performance was not only his fear of getting sent-off, but the fact that the player is exhausted after playing non-stop without a break for practically the entire season. The Bhoys mainstay has played 51 times for the Hoops this season, which is a remarkable number of matches, and the Hoops' bizarre [...]

The Hoops' determination and high-tempo approach knocked Hibs out of their usual rhythm, but they were unable to convert this into goals, with Nicole Pullar's second-half goal insufficient to prevent Hibs winning 3-1. Celtic's intentions were clear from early on as they pounced on every loose ball and harried the Hibs players as soon as they gained possession. They also showed an attacking appetite when, after only five [...]

Costa Rica manager Oscar Ramirez will this week travel to Scotland to meet Brendan Rodgers in a bid to get Christian Gamboa some more playing time. The Evening Times report that Ramirez will visit Celtic's training ground on Thursday to have a discussion with both Rodgers and Gamboa. The trip is one of several European clubs the 53 year old will visit in the near future as he continues preparations for the World Cup this summer. Celtic striker Moussa Dembele is set to return to the squad for Sunday's potential title-winning clash against Rangers on Sunday. The Daily Record report that the 21-year-old is expected to recover from the injury that kept him out of Saturday's defeat to Hibernian in time to face the Hoop's biggest rivals. The loss to Hibs, who are managed by former Celts boss Neil Lennon, meant Celtic missed the chance to secure their seventh successive SPFL title. Dembele has 15 goals in 34 games this season, including a dinked penalty as Celtic beat Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final just eight days ago. His record [...]

Celtic will rake in more than £3million in Premiership prize money when they are crowned champions. The SPFL two weeks ago released the breakdown in cash distributed to member clubs according to where they finish in the league. The prize money is up on last year, with the champions – almost certainly Celtic – to be awarded £3.176m, or 13.4 per cent of the total share. Alastair Johnston caused a stir among Rangers fans last week when he claimed finishing third would still represent the club being "ahead of the curve". Shay Logan's goal against [...]

The Daily Record claims that the Arsenal youngster is involved in a contract stand-off with the Premier League side and he could depart the club this summer. Celtic failed to secure their seventh consecutive league title today as they were completely outfought by an excellent Hibernian side who ran out 2-1 winners. The visitors were second best in every department and seemed less hungry for the win despite the chance of wrapping up the league. Jamie Maclaren opened the scoring after a hectic start at Easter Road, tapping in from a great ball across. Celtic were sloppy in possession throughout and didn't quite have the final ball in attack. Tom Rogic was denied by Marciano and Leigh Griffiths had a shot well blocked. Paul Hanlon nearly headed the host two up [...]
