The decision, which has been made by the governing body following extensive consultation with Gerry Moynihan QC, has provoked an angry reaction in some sections of Scottish football. But Ralph Topping, the outgoing SPFL chairman, Neil Doncaster, the chief executive, and Rod McKenzie, the legal advisor, outlined the reasons for the decision at Hampden yesterday as they called for an independent review to be held. Scottish Premiership outfit, Rangers were pretty mediocre throughout the season last time around and seemingly appeared to miles behind their arch rivals, Celtic. While the Celts bagged the domestic treble, the Gers had to satisfy themselves with a third place finish and had to fight against their self-inflicted demons for a major chunk. In order to spice up the competition in a better manner in the upcoming campaign, Rangers have been keeping themselves occupied this summer in order to beef up their arsenal. Pedro Caixinha has already made as many as nine signings, including two attackers in the shape of Eduardo Herrera and Alfredo Morelos. However, the incomings at the Ibrox Stadium have pushed the versatile winger and striker, Martyn Waghorn further below in the pecking order. The competition for places does derive the best out of the players and recently, it has been reported that Waghorn is cherishing this challenge and is aiming to stand tall in front of the task of earning a place in Caixinha's starting line-up next season. The 27-year-old should be backed by the former Al-Gharafa boss as he can indeed be an asset for the Teddy Bears. Waghorn emerged through the youth ranks of Sunderland and [...]

FORMER Rangers star Barry Ferguson has been made bankrupt with debts of more than £1.4 million. The ex-Scotland captain was declared insolvent after failing to settle large bills thought to be owed to the taxman. He is one of a number of former Ibrox stars who faced paying back money they had received in Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs) after Rangers lost a battle with HMRC at the Supreme Court earlier this month. Ferguson, 39, who recently stepped down as manager of Clyde, received £2.5 million in EBT payments. He also invested in a film production partnership called Eclipse which has targeted by HMRC after being ruled to be a tax avoidance scheme. Ferguson...Barry Bankrupt [...]

PEDRO: A FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE | http://rng.rs/2tEblJV

Pedro Caixinha has branded his side’s first half performance against Watford this evening as “fantastic” with Rangers running out 2-1 winners.

Played at the Hornets’ training facility just outside London, the Light Blues held a 1-0 half-time lead thanks to new arrival Daniel Candeias.

Nathaniel Chalobah equalised for Marco Silva’s men shortly after the break before Martyn Waghorn netted a winner against the Premier League outfit two minutes from time.

FRIENDLY: WATFORD 1-2 RANGERS - http://rng.rs/2h3fdSG

Rangers recorded an impressive win over Premier League Watford in their penultimate pre-season game thanks to a late Martyn Waghorn goal.

The striker was on target two minutes from time to snatch the spoils for Pedro Caixinha’s side after Daniel Candeias fired the Gers ahead just before half-time in the training ground friendly. That is the Portuguese’s first goal for his new side.

Stefano Okaka pegged the home side back on the hour mark after their summer signing, Nathaniel Chalobah, thundered a driven strike off Jak Alnwick’s crossbar.
